Voluntourism Opportunities Along the Gulf Coast

Give Back this Holiday Season

Voluntourism Opportunities Along the Gulf Coast

Here at Southern, we aim to consistently give back to the areas that give so much to us and our guests. Our employees are active in the community by volunteering for local projects and giving donations to fundraisers throughout the area. We strive to be the most caring vacation rental company along the Coast, and we achieve this through our Southern Cares Program. One initiative we have put in place through Southern Cares is Voluntourism. This term is defined by opportunities for guests and visitors to give back during their stay. We have listed some voluntourism opportunities below. No matter when or where you are staying, there is always a way to thank the community for keeping our beaches clean and the surroundings beautiful.

Not to mention, the Holiday season is the best time to give back! When you book your vacation rental along the Gulf Coast, donate to one of the nonprofit organizations we support. Click here to learn more about our Southern Cares Program.

Alaqua Animal Refuge

If you or someone in your family has a love for animals, check out Alaqua Animal Refuge. Alaqua serves as a safe space for animals of all shapes and sizes. They believe that every abused, neglected, and homeless animal deserves a second chance. They provide protection, shelter, and care to dogs, cats, horses, and more. You can volunteer and work closely with the animals, help out in the office, or even take part in some of their special events.

Matty Kelly Arts Foundation

This organization works to improve and enhance the opportunities for art and culture. They participate in children’s education by hosting outreach programs to ensure kids get to live creatively and experience art with a hands-on curriculum. The best way to do your part in introducing the love for art is by volunteering at one of their many events. If you have a passion for art, you could even serve as an artist mentor.

Friends of Camp Helen State Park

Dive into the world around you by volunteering for Friends of Camp Helen State Park. They strive to preserve, maintain, and improve the park through volunteer projects. You may also see them at other community events to fundraise and spread the word. They offer a standing Volunteer Workday each Thursday from 9 am – 12 pm. Be sure to check out and learn more about why this beautiful park is actively being preserved.

There are even more voluntourism opportunities listed on our website. The many different communities along the Gulf Coast work hard to ensure our beaches stay pristine for our guests and help is always appreciated!
