Spring is here, and Summer is right around the corner. The weather is so beautiful here on the Gulf Coast, and we can’t wait to head to the beach! We’re loading up the car with our coolers and getting ready to soak up some sun. Tip: before you spread out your beach towel, make sure you double check your beach bag. Nothing is worse than finally making it to your favorite spot on the beach and realizing you’ve forgotten something. That’s why this month’s Southern Scoop is all about things to pack in your beach bag. We hope our handy tips will help you know what to pack in your beach bag and keep you from forgetting anything. Read on below and let us know what you can’t live without at the beach on our Facebook page!
Before you can compile your sunscreen, sunglasses, and towel, you need a good beach bag. We like this one, available on Amazon in a variety of colors. Not only does it have an inside zipper pocket, but it’s easy to carry and fits in your suitcase. The neoprene makes it machine washable and quick to dry as well!
Sunglasses are essential for a day at the beach, especially when the clouds are sparse and the sun is bright! While you may be tempted to bring your name-brand sunglasses to the beach, opt for a pair under $20 for the inevitable wear and tear that comes with a day at the beach. You’d hate to lose your Ray-Bans in the ocean! Also, look for sunglasses that filter out UVA and UVB light to help protect your eyes!
Whether it’s a wide-brim or a baseball cap, a hat at the beach is a great way to protect your scalp from the sun! We slather on the sunscreen before we head to the beach, but nine times out of ten our scalps go unprotected. A hat will also help protect your face and neck from UV rays.
