Having to bring one's own toilet paper and blankets seems pretty cheap, and no salt and pepper in kitchen?? Really? Also, 9 am checkout does not comport with hotel standards. Given a 4 pm checkin time, it unduly short changes one's stay. Owners place was wonderfully furnished and decorated. Our complaints are about Southern Vacation.

We loved view, quick elevators, and ease of getting from building to the beach and beach wasn’t as crowded since building not as tall. Furniture is tasteful but needs better curtains to block out light and provide privacy and a working ceiling fan light in guest room. Showers had ample hot water and good pressure. Loved the ocean themed quilt…I now want one!! We appreciated better than average selection of pots/pans/utensils but some utensils were dirty and some dishes chipped. The blender does not really blend a drink well so an upgraded blender would be nice for making frozen mocha lattes. Overall, unit was very clean, even the floors!!!! When we arrived, the larger stove burners would not work and we determined they were not plugged in to the connector and don’t set flat when connected but I wasn’t cooking much. Ice machine in fridge doesn’t appear to be connected to water which should be in check-in instructions. After we worked to get it to work, we noticed the bar area had ice maker which was great but did have light on saying “needs cleaning”. Ice tasted ok though and ice cubes fit great in our water bottles used on beach walks! I could not locate one hot pad in the unit for taking things out of oven so a few of those would be nice addition. The pool closed Mon - Fri from 8:00-3:00 which was frustrating as meant we had to go buy some beach chairs. I would stay in unit again possibly in a not busy season. When we called Southern Vacation where we rented from, they could not tell us where our assigned parking spot was and told us to park anywhere there was an open space. Rentals 606, 607 and 608 are in middle of one level of garage and 609 is at far end on next level up of garage right where you come off ramp to garage so kind of hard to park. With help of some nice people in garage area, they directed me to a map of parking in elevator to help us find our spot and there is sign stating you get your assigned spot and any unassigned spot on ground level can be used, if available, but if not available may have to park offsite but doesn’t say where offsite parking is available so would hesitate to rent if taking two cars. Also, we purchased travel insurance which caused more frustration. The insurance document only listed me even though reservation listed me and my husband. When I called the insurance company, they said my husband would have no coverage unless our rental company updated it but the rental company would do nothing. After about hour on phone with insurance company and rental company, called number not on documents provided for the travel insurance company and got a very helpful lady who explained how the insurance works and followed up with email to ease my concern over his name not being listed to document he is covered. We have used Southern rentals several times prior to covid pandemic with great support but it was not like that with this rental. The man I dealt with twice did not seem to have any knowledge about the rental property or the area. I’m sure if we had parked anywhere as he directed us, we would have come out to find our car towed away. This is not a reflection on the condo owner or the condo itself but with who they have it listed with. The condo itself is lovely and we loved walking from it to The Perdido Pass to watch for boats but it is about 5 miles round trip. We booked close to arrival so got a better price which we really appreciated. If we passed over renting again, it would only be due to frustration when calling the rental company for help.
