Get away to Alabama’s Gulf Coast and the shores of beautiful Mobile Bay by planning your next vacation to Fairhope! Thought of as the ‘jewel of the Eastern Shore,’ Fairhope has much to offer you including an abundance of charm, activities and local restaurants.
Fairhope is a small, quaint town but offers a rich history that is perfect to explore during your visit. Founded by just 500 residents, Fairhope’s history is largely based on the care and cultivation of its breathtaking parks and piers along the coastline. The area is called home by many who are inspired by the lush landscapes including artists, craftsmen and writers. Because of this, Fairhope is also the home of one of the South’s most popular events, the Fairhope Arts and Crafts Festival held every spring.
Fairhope’s historic district is the perfect location for events and there are many to enjoy throughout the year! Flower festivals, live music and art shows can all be easily found with a stroll through the area. Popular annual events include the Polo Classic, Festival of Flowers in nearby Mobile and the unique jubilee.
Throughout the summer, when the conditions are just right, residents and visitors rush to the shores of Mobile Bay during “jubilee.” A jubilee occurs when the flounder, crab and/or shrimp have swarmed the shore, making them easy to catch, eat and enjoy! This phenomenon is rare and is thought to only occur in one other place in the world, Tokyo Bay, Japan.
Fairhope attracts many visitors thanks to historic downtown and the many things to do there. Reserve a cottage or vacation home along the Mobile Bay shoreline and take advantage of being within walking distance of the local art galleries, open air markets and antique stores of this terrific city. These vacation rentals, and this delightful city, are also perfect for destination weddings and girlfriend getaways.
