Fort Walton Beach’s 64th Annual Billy Bowlegs Pirate Festival 2018
It is that time of year. Time to relive the historical landing of the area’s most famous pirate. Join Southern for the first weekend in June and enjoy a weekend of events at the 64th Annual Billy Bowlegs Pirate Festival 2019!
Friday, May 31st – Pirate Festival
Saturday, June 1st – Pirate Festival
Monday, June 3rd– Torchlight Parade
The festivities start on Friday and are hosted at the Fort Walton Beach Landing. Those grounds will open at 3 pm on Friday and weekend kicks off at 6 pm awaiting the official docking by Capt. Billy and his Krewe around 7 pm. In addition to the docking, see a re-enactment of his reconnaissance mission and skirmish with locals (acted by Mayor Dick Rynearson and his Reed’s Raiders.) This fun is followed up with the biggest fireworks display of the season at 9 pm!
Continue the fun early on Saturday with the 45th Annual Billy Bowlegs 5K at 7:30 am. Visit (www.nwftc.com) for registration details.
The rest of Saturday is filled with day-long events and fun. We will have revelry and music with local entertainment on the main stage, a carnival and kids activities. Additionally, the official landing of Capt. Billy and Krewe will occur between 3 pm and 4 pm. Mayor Rynearson and his Raiders will attempt to repel Capt. Billy’s invasion this year once again at the Billy Bowlegs Pirate Festival 2018.
Finally, the weekend ends with the biggest parade on the Emerald Coast! The Billy Bowlegs Torchlight Parade commences at 7 pm on Monday, June 4. The festive parade floats anchored by the Krewe of Bowlegs will delight all!
