Vegan Eats in Destin & 30A
Vegan Eats
For herbivores who crave something other than a cheeseburger in paradise, you have to know where to look. Along the Gulf Coast of Northwest Florida, you’ll find plenty of burger stands and barbecue joints. But vegan and vegetarian options are harder to find. So we’ve searched out the greatest greens, fiercest fruits, and most sublime soups to nourish your body and soul.
Let’s start on the iconic Scenic Highway 30A in Seaside, where you’ll find Raw & Juicy, a vegan kitchen hosted in a silver airstream. With vegan snacks, smoothies, cold-pressed juices, and meals, this is the place for all the organic goodness. In fact, it was featured in USA Today and Coastal Living.
So kickstart your day and your health with raw & juicy’s Green Goddess, a mixture of kale, cucumber, celery, lemon and parsley. Or try their namesake smoothie, with carrots, apples, beets, and ginger. If you need more protein and fiber to push through a long day of lounging on the beach, order a Costa Rican–a rice and bean salad, served with avocado and spicy salsa.
Over in Destin, you can’t miss Everkrisp, “where farm meets fast food.” Let’s just say it’s the most delicious fast food we’ve ever tasted. And their website (gasp) is so gorgeously curated with farm-fresh photos, it’s mouthwatering! Everkrisp deals exclusively in local, seasonal produce. While it’s not vegan, there are some amazing vegetarian options. Your tastebuds will thank you, trust us. Each Everkrisp bowl is made right in front of you and is customizable based on the season’s fruits, veggies, and cheeses. Try a grain bowl with wild rice, green beans, roasted onions, strawberries, and sugar-salted pecans, with maple cider vinegar. Or, get our personal favorite, the Spicy NOLA, minus the shrimp to make it vegetarian. This bowl has wild rice, spinach, tomatoes, corn, scallions, roasted broccoli, peppers, and a spicy citrus vinaigrette.
With these two options, you’ll have the whole family chowing down on delicious fruits and veggies!
