1. Scenic Highway 98
Are you staying with us in a Destin, Florida vacation rental? Then a leisurely bike ride down Scenic Highway 98 is for you. This is one of our favorite unexpected bike trails in Destin, since you can cruise down the sidewalk while taking in some incredible real estate and fresh salty air.
2. Timpoochie Trail
Located just east of Destin and spanning 18.6 miles, the Timpoochie Trail takes cyclists down Scenic 30A from Dune Allen Beach to Inlet Beach. The name is derived from Chief Timpoochie Kinnard of the Yuchi Nation, a Native American tribe that migrated to the Florida Panhandle in the late 17th century. Since this trail is flat and wide, you can enjoy a safe ride with some beautiful scenery. Those who ride down the Timpoochie Trail will see coastal dune lakes, state parks, and more of 30A’s beautiful beach communities. You must give this bike trail on 30A a try on your next vacation!
3. Mattie Kelly Park and Nature Walk
Meanwhile, you will find the Mattie Kelly Park and Nature Trail tucked back northwest of the beach, but this hidden gem is not to be missed! This 10.13-acre park has bayou access, a pier, beach area, and picnic area. The trail is the perfect place to hop on your bike and unplug.
4. Point Washington State Forest
Also on 30A east of Destin, the Point Washington State Forest is another great bike trail with a scenic view. Boasting over 15,000 acres, Point Washington State Forest has over 27 miles of trails. Travel through the 3.5, 5, or 10-mile loops on the Eastern Lake Bike Trail, depending on how adventurous you feel. The Eastern Lake Bike Trail is also a part of the Florida State Forests Trailwalker program, an initiative that encourages hikers to get out and explore our areas.
