Whos Playing at the Pepsi Gulf Coast Jam?

The Pepsi Gulf Coast Jam brings dozens of today’s country superstars to the stage in Panama City Beach. Headlining this year’s concert are Luke Bryan—who happens to be a nearby 30A local—Jason Aldean, and Little Big Town.

Luke Bryan, the main attraction at the Pepsi Gulf Coast Jam, got his start in Nashville nearly two decades ago writing songs for Travis Tritt and Billy Currington. It wasn’t until the mid-2000s that he released his first album. Bryan’s music possesses a distinctly small-town feel, reminiscent of dirt roads and open fields. Yet, he reaches a decidedly large audience.

His song, Rain is a good thing, hit number one on the charts. Then, he followed with a new album and ten other number-one hits. Today, Luke Bryan is known for country music’s tightest pair of jeans. Not to mention, he’s a regular at Cowgirl Kitchen and Shore Thing Cigars (which he co-owns) on 30A.

Jason Aldean is from a small town just a few hours North of Panama City Beach: Macon, Georgia. Although Aldean, like Luke Bryan, got his start in country music in Nashville as a member of a house band. After being on the brink of several record deals only to have them fall through, Aldean was also on the brink of giving up. However, an independent record label spotted him just before he decided to hang up his guitar. Lucky for Aldean, the deal was a success and he topped the radio charts with his single, Johnny Cash. He later followed with other chart-toppers including the now iconic Big Green Tractor.

Meanwhile, Little Big Town features four musicians from Georgia, Alabama, and Arkansas. Without question, what sets Little Big Town apart is their unique vocal harmony. Kimberly Roads, Karen Fairchild, Jimi Westbrook, and Phil Sweet alternate lead vocals. Their harmony, however, is undeniable. Following the success of other harmonious groups like the Dixie Chicks, Little Big Town topped the charts. Their songs include Bring it on Home, Pontoon, and Girl Crush.
