Upcoming Runs Along the Gulf Coast!
The warm winter weather along the Gulf Coast makes it an ideal place to host running events. While you will find these happening all year long, they are especially prevalent in the late winter, early spring, and fall, before the weather gets too hot.
If you love to run, book your vacation in Destin, Scenic 30A, or Pensacola Beach now to hit up the late winter runs happening now through mid-March! Whether you want to guess your time, run with the dogs, or go the distance, we’ve got a race along the beach for you.
The first races coming up are the Gulf Coast Half Marathon and the Seaside Half Marathon on February 28, 2016. While the popular Seaside Half is sold out, the Gulf Coast Half Marathon in Gulf Shores still has spots open and we still have condos on Alabama’s Gulf Coast available for rent. If you like the idea of running a course along the beach, but can’t make it this February, consider running the next half of the series. It will take place in Pensacola Beach, Florida on April 10, 2016.
Speaking of running events near our Pensacola Beach condos and homes, if you will be joining us for an early March vacation, consider lacing up those shoes for the annual McGuire’s 5K Prediction Run. This festive St. Patrick’s Day event, which will actually take place on March 12, 2016, at 9 AM, takes you along a certified 5K course through downtown Pensacola. Runners are asked to predict how long they think it will take them to complete the route. Those who come closest to their predicted time win! No watches or timing devices are allowed.
Lastly, if you will be bringing your pooch along for a vacation in Destin, sign up for the Run with the Dogs 5K on March 19, 2016. The cost is $20 and you and your favorite running buddy can enjoy a nice, flat course together. All dogs must be wearing their current rabies tag and owners are asked to bring baggies for cleanup. Awards and after-party will take place at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. Don’t hold a leash, but push a stroller? That’s welcome, too. Take your pick of these great events and we will see you at the finish line this February and March!
