This slice of the Gulf Coast is so beautiful in the springtime – the water shines bright shades of crystal blue, the weather is perfect, and everyone seems to be shaking off the dredges of winter to get ready for a fresh, new season. Plus, this is when the days start to get longer, allowing for plenty of more sunlight. What more could you ask for for a spring vacation? If you’ve never been to Destin for a spring vacation before, then it’s time to make 2020 the year of travel! We’ve compiled some of our best tips for planning a spring vacation to Destin below to help you have a seamless experience.

If spring is not your favorite time of year to travel, don’t worry! You can easily use these tips for a summer vacation as well. In fact, you can use them for any time of year to travel!

Find Your Vacation Rental

Whether you want to stay in a large beach home in Destin, Florida or a beachfront condo for just a few people, we’ve got the inventory for you! Determining the size of your group is the first step in finding your vacation rental in Destin. If you’re traveling with a large group, then consider one of our sizable beach homes. One of our favorite homes, Already There, is open for your spring vacation. This home rarely has availability, so you don’t want to miss out on the chance to stay here! Featuring a private pool, an open-air third-floor deck, and a delightful beachfront location, it’s no surprise Already There in Destin is such a popular vacation home. Another great vacation home in Destin is Margaritaville, a six-bedroom home just across the street from the beach with access to the exclusive Destiny amenities.

Or, if you don’t need a lot of space, consider a vacation condo in Destin for your group. We love Breakers East for its beachfront location in Destin, in addition to its incredible resort-style amenities and proximity to exciting things to do in Destin. These two-bedroom condos are the perfect size for anywhere from six to eight guests. In addition, Mainsail Resort in Destin is another popular vacation spot for your group. Consisting of one- to four-bedroom condos that sleep anywhere from four to twelve guests, it’s easy to see why Mainsail Resort is so sought-after. Its amenities include a pool, tennis courts, barbecue grills, and more.

Plan Your Travel

Now that you know where to stay, how will you get here? No matter where you’re coming from, you can be at the beach in only a few hours. Don’t worry, Destin is just a short drive away! If you would rather fly and then rent a car when you get here, several airlines have direct flights into Destin. You’ll need to fly into the Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport or Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport in Panama City Beach, but after a short time in the car, you’ve arrived at the beach! Uber and Lyft are available in Desti, but renting a car gives you the freedom to get out and explore at your leisure.

Discover Fun Activities

In the springtime, Destin is teeming with fun things to do on vacation. Take our word for it! This is a great time of year to hop aboard a charter boat and set out on a dolphin cruise or fishing charter. You’ll be surprised at the fish you can reel in during the spring! This includes amberjack, snapper, triggerfish, marlin, and so much more. If you’re planning a spring vacation to Destin, this is absolutely a must-do activity. If you want something a little more low-key, you can spend the day exploring popular spots like HarborWalk Village. Here you can browse local shops, grab a treat from The Fudgery, or enjoy a delicious dinner at any of the incredible restaurants.
