How to Plan Your Labor Day Vacation ~ The Southern Scoop
With summer still in full swing, we’re soaking up every second of sunshine we can get. We aren’t quite ready for cooler weather just yet! Not to mention, there’s still plenty of time for beach vacations and barbecues. Labor Day is just around the corner, and this is one of our favorite reasons to take a beach vacation. The Gulf Coast is full of local events for Labor Day weekend, so you can celebrate the long weekend from sunup to sundown. In this month’s Southern Scoop, we’re breaking down our tips and tricks on how to plan your Labor Day vacation. Direct flights, the best spots on the beach, and things to do while you’re here – it’s easier than you think!
How To Get Here
Fortunately, our beaches are only a short drive away if you’re in Alabama, Missisppi, Louisiana, or any other nearby states. If you aren’t within driving distance, or simply don’t want to make the drive (a two-day car trip can be intense, especially with the whole family!), then you’re in luck as several airlines are now offering direct flights to Pensacola and Destin/Fort Walton. For visitors from New York, United Airlines recently launched daily non-stop flights from Newark Liberty International Airport to Pensacola International Airport. You could be at the beach in a matter of hours! Allegiant also provides non-stop service to the Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport from a number of locations, including Cincinnati, Austin, Indianapolis, and so much more. Be sure to check out your local airport’s website for information on direct flights.
