It’s almost Mardi Gras and while you can celebrate along the Gulf Coast with parades and other events, there is only one place to celebrate in a delicious fashion – the Village of Baytowne Wharf.
Crawfish and gumbo are two of our favorite ways to indulge during the Fat Tuesday festivities and the Sandestin Gumbo Festival is where we like to do it! An annual tradition, and great reason to vacation on Scenic 30A in February, the gumbo festival kicks off on February 13 at 4pm with a crawfish boil at Fat Tuesday in the Village of Baytowne Wharf. Plates are just $3 and the fun continues all evening.
The main event, the Gumbo Festival, takes place on Valentine’s Day beginning at noon. A variety of local and regional chefs will try their hand at creating the day’s best gumbo. While celebrity judges will name the days overall winner, there is a People’s Choice category which mean, you guessed it, lots of sampling! Come out to taste all the chicken, sausage and seafood concoctions. Tickets are on sale now for just $20!
