Are you enjoying a January vacation in Destin? It’s been a little chilly, although still great beach-walking weather. Warm up after your walk this Saturday with some great gumbo during the Destin History and Fishing Museum’s annual gumbo content!

The delicious event will take place at the Destin Community Center from 11AM-2PM on Saturday, January 30, 2016. Make your way around the community center trying to scrumpticious creations of locals and local chefs before helping decide who ahs created the ‘Best Gumbo on the Panhandle’. Live entertainment will also take place from a wonderful local band and there will be several activities to keep you busy between bites, including the silent auction.

Over 60 packages will be up for bidding during the auction event. Choose from vacation packages, artwork and jewelry. Or, if activities are more your speed, there will be plenty of those, along with dining certificates and more. Ticket prices are $15 until the day of the event and can be purchased at the museum. Entrance is $20 at the door.

All proceeds from the gumbo contest and silent auction benefit the Destin History and Fishing Museum, which works to preserve the heritage of the ‘World’s Luckiest Fishing Village’.
