Best Baked Pimento Cheese in Orange Beach ~ The Southern Scoop’s Recipe of the Month

Any time we go to a restaurant, if they have baked pimento cheese on the menu, we’re ordering it. No matter where you order it, the sentiment is the same: a hot, creamy, delicious concoction of melted cheese and flavor. Scoop it out of a dish onto a warm pita or a fresh vegetable stick; there’s no wrong way to enjoy it. Have you ever tried to make pimento cheese? It’s just as easy to make as it is to enjoy. We got the idea to make pimento cheese for ourselves when we discovered the best baked pimento cheese in Orange Beach at The Meat Mart. It’s Orange Beach’s first and only full service meat market and butcher shop, and you can’t visit Orange Beach without stopping by. In addition to incredible cuts of meat, you’ll find homemade sausages, handmade crab cakes, rotisserie chicken salad, and homemade pimento cheese. Grab some to go, take it back to your Orange Beach vacation rental, and get ready to enjoy!

Don’t have time to head to Orange Beach for pimento cheese? No problem; follow along with our recipe to recreate this at home! You only need a few ingredients and about 30 minutes of time.

What You’ll Need:

1 8oz. package of cream cheese, softened 1 cup mayonnaise 1 8oz. package sharp cheddar cheese, grated
1 12oz jar roasted red peppers, drained 2 4oz. jars diced pimentos, drained 2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon salt 1 tsp. sugar 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Preparation:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and spray a baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. Place the peppers and pimentos on a paper towel to pat excess moisture out. Chop and set aside.
  3. Add the cream cheese, mayonnaise, and both cheeses to a large bowl and mix well.
  4. Add the peppers, pimentos, Worcestershire sauce, salt, sugar, and cayenne pepper. Mix everything evently.
  5. Spoon into the baking dish and bake for 20-25 minutes, until bubbly and golden on top.
  6. Serve with vegetable sticks or pita bread – or both!
