2016 Mardi Gras

2016 Mardi Gras

2016 Mardi Gras

Mardi Gras was born here on the Gulf Coast and it is a big deal. We celebrate hard and it’s well worth planning a vacation on Alabama’s Gulf Coast near the Mobile parades or going on vacation in Pensacola Beach.

While Mardi Gras, or Fat Tuesday, is not officially until February 9, 2016, there are plenty of parades and parties that take place long before then. And, while the Pensacola and Mobile parades may not be quite as extravagant as New Orleans, we still know how to let the good times roll. And, the majority of our festivities and celebrations are family-friendly.

So, where do we recommend you check out Mardi Gras on the Gulf Coast? The first parade will take place in Fort Walton Beach near our Okaloosa Island condo rentals this Saturday, January 16, 2016 at 1PM. Be sure to head to Helen Back for the after party. Next, head to the Destin Commons on February 5 for their evening parade. Or, hit up HarborWalkk Village in Destin on February 6 at 2PM for their annual celebration.

South Walton will also hold several Mardi Gras events including a street party and live concert near our Seaside vacation homes. Love animals? Consider grabbing your best green, purple and gold flare and parading through the Village of Baytowne Wharf during their annual dog parade at 2PM on Sunday, February 7, 2016.

Pensacola throws wonderful family celebrations in downtown with this year’s events beginning on February 5, 2016 with the illuminated parade downtown. The Pensacola Grand Parade will then take place on Saturday afternoon, also in downtown. Also consider staying in a Gulf Shores vacation rental to be near the action of Mobile, which will host countless parades and events beginning as early as January 23 and running through Fat Tuesday.
