The 2016 Flora-Bama Mullet Toss

It’s time once again for the annual Mullet Toss at the Flora-Bama, located near our Perdido Key and Orange Beach vacation rentals. This is an exciting spring event on the Gulf Coast, with several events leading up to the big Gulf Coast’s Greatest Beach Party on April 22-24, 2016!

If you’re athletic, the next mullet event coming up is the annual triathlon on April 16, 2016. Now in it’s 20th year, this event aims to see who can swim, run and bike the fastest along our beautiful beaches. The course begins with a 1/4 mile swim through the Gulf of Mexico behind the Flora-Bama before transitioning to the bike segment, which takes place on a paved course. Next, participants will run 4.2 miles before finishing up and enjoying the post-race party.

The next event is for those who prefer to flex their athletic skills out on the links. The 19th annual Mullet Swing Golf Tournament will be hosted at the Lost Key Golf Club on April 20, 2016. There will be a shotgun start at 11AM to the 4-person scramble event. The hospitality tent, provided by the Flora-Bama, will open at 5PM before awards begin at 5:30PM

Now, it’s time for the main event! It’s time to toss mullet. Yes, actually toss a dead fish. Across statelines – if you can! Head out to the Flora-Bama April 22-24, 2016 for one of the biggest beach parties you have ever attended. There are food, drinks and entertainment to enjoy, even if you don’t throw a fish. But, if you’ve never done it, we highly encourage you register, pay your $15 entrance fee and give it a shot. Just stand in the circle and fling that fish as far as you can! There are prizes and 12 finalist each day.
